SW Christmas Equine Fair
We took Harry and Hedd to Exeter to take part in a special event that gave some important publicity to our lovely boys. Both of them performanced superbly and were a real credit to our stud. We've had lots of interest from it and already taken a booking!
NPA Cornwall Winter Show
It was a cold and foggy day but we made the effort to take Owly out for his second ridden event. He went well and to our delight he was 1st in the novice small breeds and then went on to stand overall ridden champion!!
BSPS Autumn Show
This was Owly's first time out under saddle and also his first time indoors. He gave a simply foot perfect performance and stood 4th out of nine and he was in with some very experienced ponies. We're thrilled to bits and hope that this is the start of a very special career.

Horse of the Year Show - WOW!

Wow, wow, wow! There isn't words that can sum up our experience in Birmingham, it really was out of this world! We had an amazing few days with Rob and Karen and our cousin, Becky, also came with us. Ronan gave a super performance and never in our dreams did we expect a placing but we did! We were 9th overall!

Gwennap RC Hunter Trial
Veryan originally went to this as company for Julia's pony. However, when we arrived I thought the jumps weren't too big and in spite of only having popped Veryan over a few logs and things on hacks we had a stab at it! She was very bold and fast and only had one refusal.

A very long and tiring day; I don't know who's crazy idea it was but we took five ponies! We took Credit Crunch and his mother, Antoinette, both of whom stood 2nd in the mare and foal classes, Heddy stood 2nd too in the stallion class, Veryan was 3rd in her class and Lampard was 1st in a very large 2&3 year old class - a result we were thrilled with. I didn't get any pictures again - rubbish!
St Mawgan Show
We'd not been to this show for the past couple of years so it was nice to see it hadn't changed much. It was a lovely day out and the weather was kind. Lampard was 1st in his class and Hedd was 2nd.

Exmoor Breed Show
A somewhat pointless exercise. We took our friend, Rachael, and her pony, Northcroft Thistle all the way up to Exford with Tawny Owl. We got the lorry stuck on the showfield and had be towed on by a tractor. The show was then unfortunately cancelled due to bad weather and so we were towed off again and we then drove home. Deep joy.
NPS Championships
This was the first time we've been up to the championships and stayed for the duration. We really had a super time and met lots of friends - old and new. We had a tremendous result with Owly standing 4th in the home produced finals! He also went unplaced in the silver medal final and stood a disappointing 4th in the Exmoor stallion class. Ronan came home with a 6th in the NFU Welsh C class, 6th in the intermediate finals and 5th in the in-hand silver medal final - after giving a simply super performance with Jonathan. Unfortunately I didn't get any pictures.
National Welsh Championships
Oaklyvaile Gentleman in Suede, owned and ridden by Sarah Thompson has had a very successful championship standing supreme champion part-bred horse both in-hand and ridden! Suede is the first foal out of our own brood mare, Bondleigh Lady in Silk.

What started off being a very wet day turned out to be rather lovely. We were up and back in super quick time - home in time for lunch in fact! Hedd was 3rd in a very big mixed large breeds class and Tawny Owl was 2nd in the small breeds and stood overall reserve champion. Not bad at all!
Royal Welsh Show - We're going to HOYS!!
What an amazing week we've had. Jonathan showed Ronan in-hand for Polmesk on Tuesday but didn't manage a placing in the C stallion class, our mare Veryan didn't fetch a placing either on Wednesday in the Cob barren mare class; both classes were massive and the quality of ponies was exceptional. However, our luck changed on Thursday with a 5th place in the Section C open riddens with Ronan and later in the afternoon we had 2nd in the HOYS class and to our amazement we have now qualified! It really was a special moment and one we certainly won't be forgetting in a hurry.

Praze Fair Show
We always enjoy our day out at Praze Show regardless of the results, it's a super show with a really buzzy atmosphere. However, this year was the 200th year of the show and we were really honoured to take home some excellent prizes - including the M&M championship. Tawny Owl started the day off well with 1st in a very strong small breeds class and our homebred filly, Sweet William was 2nd in the 2&3 year old class, Tawny Owl was then awarded champion and won the NPS Silver Medal! Our cousin, Julia, has been training with us for some young handler classes and was 2nd with Sweet William and went on to stand reserve champion. The afternoon then got a bit more exciting as I was asked to ride Oldforge Bertie in the working hunter class for the Tresparrett Stud and we took 4th place - not bad given I'd never sat on him before!

We had a super day with Conker. We've worked hard with him over the past year to bring him back and today all our hard work paid off. He stood 2nd in the 2 wheel exercise vehicle class and later in the day we took part in the 'Derrick and Brown Challenge'. This involved a road drive, cones, bending, balancing an egg on a spoon, reversing and jousting. To our delight we were presented with 1st prize! Conker was a true wonder and really deserved to be at the top.

What a long and tiring day! The day started well with 2nd prize and reserve champion with Tawny Owl in the Exmoor classes. Hedd was 2nd in the Welsh C stallion class and Veryan was 2nd in the Welsh D barren mare class. We left the show at 4:30pm before the open ridden classes had even begun of which Ronan would have been the last. Dunkery Tawny Owl

We always really enjoy all the shows at Bicton, it's a lovely peaceful venue and the sun always seems to shine. Veryan was 3rd in a very large Welsh D barren mare class and Sweet William, to our delight, was 1st in the Welsh D filly class and took the best home bred award. Ronan was 1st in the NPS Welsh C class and qualified for the open finals. Our broodmare, Bondleigh Lady in Silk's first foal, Oaklyvaile Gentleman in Suede had a super day and stood reserve supreme of the show! Congratulations to Sarah. Three Counties Show
We took Red Rose up for her last county show with us as she will now be put up for sale; the beginning of our reduction of stock. She was 5th in a very large barren mare class and didn't look at all out of place - even for a 16 year old! She was unplaced in a massive ridden class as was Ronan in the HOYS class in spite of giving his best performance to date. Hywi Red Rose
We have a foal!
Polmesk Antoinette gave birth to a beautiful colt foal today. He is by our own stallion, Arthen Hedd, and will be called Trekerwys Credit Crunch.

Royal Cornwall Show
We were blessed with beautiful weather again this year. We had a good morning with the in-hand ponies - Tawny Owl was 3rd in the senior Exmoor class, Twyford Conker was 3rd in the Welsh C barren mare/gelding class, Veryan was 6th in a massive Welsh D barren mare/gelding class and Lampard was 5th in the Welsh D 2&3 year old class. However, we had an incredible result in the afternoon - Ronan was 2nd in the Welsh C HOYS class!! He was only two points from the winner, so we know we're really close to that ticket now! Fingers crossed for the rest of the season...

I rode Ronan for the Polmesk Stud and we were 1st the NPS Intermediates (Welsh B & C) and qualified for the finals. Rosie was 4th in the Welsh D Intermediate class. As we were still recovering from Bath and West, we didn't stay for the championship but were home again by lunchtime.

Royal Bath and West Show
Bath and West was considerably more wet than Devon County. When we arrived on Thursday evening the showground was waterlogged and the road in was a river! Luckily, by morning the rain had stopped and the sun shone. Veryan was 4th in a very strong Welsh D brood/barren mare class, Jon showed Ronan to 2nd place in the Welsh C stallion class and later in the day Ronan stood 3rd in the Welsh C&D ridden class and was the only Section C to be placed.

The show was as soggy as ever but we were thrilled with 1st prize with Hedd in the Welsh C stallion class. Unfortunately I was unable to take any pictures of him.
SW Welsh Early Summer Show
What a hot day! We arrived in glorious sunshine at Poltimore, Exeter a little late after getting lost. Sweet William was 3rd in the Welsh D 2&3 year old class, Veryan was 3rd in the senior Welsh D class and Tawny Owl was 2nd in a rather large NPS Home Produced and and qualified for the finals - he was the only non-Welsh entered. Veryan also gave a lovely (but very novice) ridden performance but was unplaced.

We arrived to find we had a different judge from the one that was scheduled to be there - but that didn't stop us. Tawny Owl started off well and was 1st in a very large small breeds class. In the large breed class, we were showing Tredellans Bramble for Tina Orchard and stood 1st and went on to take M&M reserve champion. We had also taken Rose originally for a workers class but that clashed with the M&M ring, so she was entered in-hand and was 4th in the large breed class.

We set out with no expectations for today, so it came as a total surprise when Hedd was 1st in the M&M small breeds class and then went on to stand ring champion! He gave a tremendous performance and made lots of fans throughout the day.

Arthen Hedd
We also took Conker and he was 3rd in the open driving class. We were thrilled with him as he went beautifully and remained quite calm during his class - a big achievement!

The day started well with Lampard taking 4th place in the 2&3 year old Welsh C&D class and Tawny Owl standing 2nd in a large class of senior Shetland, Dartmoor and Exmoors. Just before lunch baby Harry took a bump to the head follwed by a trip to Treliske Hospital which frightened us! But he was fine and were back in time for the ridden classes. We only missed Hedd's class and I was too late for Veryan's class but Becky kindly rode her - even though she'd only sat on her a couple of time before! Ronan Keating was 4th in a large open ridden class.

Dunkery Tawny Owl - on lease to Trekerwys!
We have kindly been leased Dunkery Tawny Owl from Paul Schmidt of West Sussex. He is a four year old stallion with us to do some showing.

A familiar face is back!
Twyford Conker has spent the winter at grass with his owners, Roger & Brett. He's now returned to the stud in preparation for the 2008 season where he'll be seen out in harness.

Sunsplash goes out on loan.
Our Exmoor pony, Sweetcombe Sunsplash, has gone on loan to a family to do Pony Club. Good luck to Amy, Greg and their two boys.

Harry has been away to be broken for riding. He will be seen out under saddle later in the season.

Welcome, Harry Michael Richard Payne!
On the twelfth of February we saw the arrival of our first child; we have been blessed with a beautiful son.

Royal Welsh Winter Fair
This was our first trip to the Winter Fair and we took Lampard with us along with Chris Green and her colt foal, Anabia Bobbysox. We had a tremendous couple of days soaking up the magical atmosphere and managed a fabulous fourth place with Bobbysox! We met plenty of new people and were able to watch some simply stunning animals.
