Wendron Rambuck Show

Following TopSpot's very shy performance last week, and not long before Royal Cornwall we decided we needed to try and build his confidence some more in the ring. This show was purely used as a training exercise for him and in a class of 15 ponies, open to any youngstock, he finished 4th and highest placed native. Ultimately, he did give a better performance but he still has a way to go.

NPS Area 26 Summer Show

The day didn't start off too well; TopSpot got rather ring shy and didn't do his 'thing' too well and finished 3rd in-hand. Vanilla was also unplaced in-hand. Things looked up for the riddens though. Hedd was 1st and qualified for the Picton finals and then went Novice Champion. Vanilla rode beautifully and finished 2nd in both her intermediate and open classes. In the supreme we were really taken by surprise when our own, Arthen Hedd finished Reserve Supreme and qualified for the NPS British Ises final. What a day!

Gwennap RC Dressage Evening

Tawny Owl was a bit of a minx tonight. His visiting mare is about to come in season and boy, did we know about it. We had a few minor blips during his performance so were very surprised to be placed 1st again!

Devon County Show

It was a super scorcher of a day and the ponies found the weather hard going. Vanilla was unplaced in both her ridden and in-hand classes - both of which were enormous! Ms K Carne's Tredellans Black Prince was a very creditable 5th in the fell/dale/highland youngstock class and Hedd was 6th in the Welsh C ridden class.

Troon Show

It was a lovely day as we had both Harry and Lowenna join us for the day. Owly was 1st in the small breeds ridden and 1st in-hand, Heddy was 4th in a massive large breeds class, Gemma and Heddy were 7th in their combination class - another one with very large entries and Owly was 2nd in his combinations. Jon also showed Mr P Jones' Trevarth Jack Daniels and was 1st in the 2&3 year old class and was unplaced with Mrs Drew's Tymor Attraction.

NPA Cornwall Spring Show

Jonathan was working today so I went up in the car with the children to support Becky who was showing our mare that she has on loan, Anabia Veryan and to show for a few people. The the fell/dale/highland 2&3 year old class, I showed Mrs B Hall's Tredellans Petal into 3rd place just below Becky who trotted Keren Carne's Tredellans Black Prince to take 2nd. In the 2&3 year old Welsh C/D class Paul Jones' filly, Trevarth Danna, was 2nd and in the Senior Welsh C/D class Paul Jones' Willoway Rogers Request took 3rd with Becky and Veryan in 1st place.

The championship was enormous and I was so proud of both Becky ad Veryan when they took champion! We then had a long and cold 5 hour wait until the supreme championship. Becky had hacked Veryan over so we kept her warm with new zealand rugs and we took turns holding her while she ate the grass. The wait was worth it though as this special pair went reserve supreme champion.

It's a filly!

Our lovely foundation mare, Bondleigh Lady in Silk, produced a fabulous filly foal today! We've named her Trekerwys Lamorna Birch. We named her such because she was born at Bissoe; this derives from the Cornish for birch and Samuel John 'Lamorna' Birch famously painted the arsenic works at the bottom of the valley.

Gwennap RC Dressage Evening

I've not ridden a dressage test since 2005 and Owly has never tried dressage, so it was all a bit new for us! I remembered the test, Owly went like a dream and I was thrilled and surprised when we came home with 1st prize.

Gwennap RC Members Show

Gemma & Becky took Vanilla and Hedd up for the first points show of the year. They each did a clear round jumping and Gemma & Vanilla were 2nd in the Junior M&M class and Becky & Hedd were 1st in the Senior M&M class. Well done girls!

Gwinear Agricultural Show

Gwinear always marks the start of the outdoor season in Cornwall. It's one of our favourite shows and the atmosphere was as buzzy as ever! We were very pleased with Tawny Owl taking 1st prize in both the small breeds ridden and in-hand. Veryan was 2nd in the large breeds in-hand and Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was 2nd in the large breeds ridden. Tawny Owl then went on to stand reserve overall M&M champion. An excellent start to the season!

First foal for 2010!

Today we we thrilled to be woken up by a phone call to say our homebred mare, Trekerwys Sweet William, has given birth to a gorgeous colt foal by our own, Arthen Hedd. He's fabulous and is not only the first foal of this year, but the first second generation homebred foal and Hedd's final foal. He's not got a registered name yet, but is known at home as Norris.

We have a baby daughter!

We have been blessed with a second child, a beautiful daughter. We've named her Lowenna Gillian Christine - Lowenna means 'joyful' in Cornish and her middle names are taken from both her Grandmothers. Harry is particularly pleased with his sister!

NPA Winter Show

This was a day from hell for us. Unfortunately we nearly missed our show due to a 5 hour delay, but with kindness shown by the show organisers we were able to make it for the final few classes. Tawny Owl was 3rd in the NPS Open Ridden kindly ridden by Debbie Murch, Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) had a 5th in the NPS Open Ridden with Emma from Lanwarnick Native Ponies who with virtually no warning kindly stepped in to ride her. However, the star of the day was without doubt, our own Arthen Hedd. It was his first outing since being gelded and gave a foot perfect performance to win the NPS Pure Novice in the capable hands of Debbie. A big thank you to everybody who supported us in someway today!
