NPA Foal Show

It was a fairly good day for us, with three ponies on board it was going to be fairly busy. It was our homebred colt, Trekerwys TopSpot's first outing alone and only having been three days since weaning it was a big step for him - but to our delight he finished 1st in the cob foal class. Another of our homebreds, Credit Crunch, was 3rd in the C/D yearling class and Tredellans Black Prince (owned by Ms K. Carne) was 2nd in the large breed yearling class. Gemma also took TopSpot in Young Handlers, he was very tired and didn't cooperate very well, but she got a creditable 4th place and a prize for the best turned out!

BSPS Winter Show

A lovely relaxed day out but very cold! Knightoncombe Blue Jay (owned by Miss S Harris) was 2nd in the novice class and Greenholme Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was 4th in the open class.

19th September

NPA Cornwall Autumn Show

It was a super day, the weather was kind and the ponies enjoyed themselves with lots of classes for them all to do. I rode Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) in the novice ridden native class and stood 2nd then took 1st prize with Knightoncombe Blue Jay (owned by Miss S Harris) is the small breed ridden. We also took Towned Caitlin (also owned by Mrs B Hall) to ride around the showground. Having only been backed a week, she took it all in her stride - it was her first time at a show, so we entered her in the Best Grass Kept, where she stood a very creditable 2nd place.

Our jockey, Gemma, then took the reins for the rest of the day with tremendous success! She rode Blue Jay with her friend in the ridden pairs where to our delight they were 1st and reserve champion! Then went one step further with Vanilla by winning 1st in the Best Combination class, 1st in the novice working hunter and then standing working hunter champion!! It was quite a special end to the day to have two ponies from our yard in the supreme.

6th September

Breage & Germoe Show

We took our jockey, Gemma, and Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) for a little outing. They enjoyed showjumping together and finished the day with 1st in the childs combination class and reserve champion. Well done to both of them!

5th September

NPA Champion of Champions Show

We had qualified two of our own ponies for this final -Lampard and Shrike. Both ponies went well and from the 32 forward, Shrike made it through to the final 12 ponies from which champion and reserve were selected.

31st August

St Mawgan Show

It was the third consecutive day of showing and we were a bit jaded! Gemma kicked the day off well with Tawny Owl, standing 3rd in an open combination class - they were definately the smallest in the ring! Miss S Harris' Knightoncombe Blue Jay went beautifully in the small breeds class but didn't pleasure the judge and so went unplaced. Mr P Jones' Willoway Rogers Requestwas 4th in the large breeds and Tawny Owl was 2nd in the M&M ridden class.

30th August

Native Pony Display @ Cornish Working Horse Open Day

Jonathan and I had spent many weeks with our friend, Amy Jones, organising this display and were thrilled with the turnout of ponies. This is the first time we've held a display at this event and we had fourteen ponies forward with only two of the native breeds not represented. The display went without hitch, all the lovely people that so kindly supported us were presented with rosettes later in the day. At lunchtime, we all enjoyed d a very pleasant social gathering outside our lorry with cups of tea, hot pasties and chocolate cake!

29th August

South Western Association WPCS Late Medal Show

Wow! Wow! Wow! An amazing day for the team today - it was a very busy day for us; we took four or our own ponies and Jon also showed for clients. Mrs G McDonald's homebred filly, Cernyweg Haf was 2nd in the cob yearling class and Mrs C Green's Glynwyn Tirion finished 1st in the Section C 2&3 old class.

Our colt, Lampard, was 1st in his 2&3 year old cob class, Rebeca Eithin (on lease from Mr & Mrs Hall) was 2nd in the brood mares and her foal, Trekerwys TopSpot was 1st in his class. Hedd was 3rd in the Section C stallion class. Our jockey, Gemma, had her first time in a young handlers class and was 2nd with Rebeca Eithin in some very strong competition! In the championships things got even better where Lampard took Welsh Cob champion and won his first WPCS bronze medal! The day was topped off in fine style with a real surprise - our homebred foal, TopSpot, stood overall foal champion. A real honour!

12th August

Exmoor Pony Society Breed Show

The weather was very soggy and dull but that didn't dampen our spirits! The day kicked off in fine form with Shrike standing 2nd in the senior gelding class and then going on to stand reserve gelding champion! And later in the day Tawny Owl took an incredible 6th place in the Olympia qualifier.

9th August

Polgoda Show

It was a quick visit for us,we were only on the showground for little over an hour. We took Mr P Jones' Willoway Rogers Request for her first ridden outing - given she's only been backed for a matter of weeks were were delighted that she was 1st in the novice horse/pony class.

6th/7th August

NPS Championships

We had a super time at the champs, the weather was kind and the ponies were all very well behaved together. Tawny Owl had a fabulous result in his Picton novice final - standing 6th place in an exceptionally strong and large class. Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was unplaced in her Pictons. We topped the day off by thoroughly enjoying ourselves in the evening performance doing the adult and child pairs with Gemma and I riding our very mis-matched pair! The following morning Lampard was 4th in the medal 2&3 year old class behind some exceptional cobs.

Annoyingly my camera has broken, so I'm going to have to rely on other people's pictures probably for the rest of the season - all photographers are credited on our homepage.

23th July

The Royal Welsh Show

I went up to this on my own with Tawny Owl. It was strange not having Jonathan with me, aswell as being a very wet and very muddy show! We withdrew from our working hunter class in the morning as the going was so bad but made up for it in the afternoon with a fabulous 5th place in our HOYS class!!

13th July

Stithians Agricultural Show

We were one of the lucky few to remain dry at this show! We were very lucky to be home by lunchtime and left the showground as the rain began. We took Lampard for the M&M 2&3 year old class in which he took 1st prize and we also showed Mrs G McDonald's Welsh Cob yearling, Cernyweg Haf, to take 3rd place in her class.

10th July

The Royal Show

We made our first trip to this special event as it was to be the last ever Royal Show and we wanted to experience it before it was too late. The venue was tremendous and the facilities offered were second to none. We had a super time away although we were unplaced with both Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) and Tawny Owl in their respective HOYS qualifying classes.

27th June

NPA Cornwall Breed Show

A very long but worthwhile day for Team Trekerwys! Jon was called upon last minute to show a mare in the Welsh C championship for Polmesk Stud and took champion for them - a good start to the day. In the cob classes we had a 1st prize with Lampard, 2nd with Rebeca Eithin and 2nd with her foal, Trekerwys TopSpot! Shrike was 2nd and reserve champion in the Exmoor ring and Jon also showed Grayson's Lucky Robbie (owned by Mrs B Hall) to 1st place in the fell stallion class.

Later on in the ridden classes, Tawny Owl was 1st in the open class qualifying for the NPS finals, Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was 1st in her novice class picking up her Picton ticket and Kalevan Anastasia (owned by Langwedh Stud) was also 2nd in her novice class.

Dunkery Tawny Owl and our Harry

It was a super trip for us - Tawny Owl began the day with a 7th in a very strong HOYS class, in-hand he was 4th and topped the day off with an incredible 1st in the Exmoor riddens!!

Extra News

He has a name!

We have at last come up with a name for our colt foal out of Rebeca Eithin and by our own stallion, Haighmoor Harry. We've called him Trekerwys TopSpot because of the perfectly circular star on his forehead.

14th June

Penzance Show

It was a lovely day with plenty of socialising for us but the weather was humid and warm which meant it wasn't nice weather for showing. We rode Langwedh Stud's Kalevan Anastasia, and this was her first outing under saddle - she was 3rd in the tack and turnour class and was 1st in the ridden small breeds. We'd also had Arthen Sidan (owned by Mrs C Green) here for a few weeks prior to the show to prepare for her first outing too and she was a very creditable 4th place in the ridden large breeds class. She's now gone on loan to Phil, Hazel & Isobel and we wish them all the best with Sadie!

5th June

Royal Cornwall Show

This is without doubt our favourite show of the year and it was great; the weather was kind and we had some super results showing our own stock and ponies for clients & friends. Tawny Owl was 3rd in the senior Exmoor in-hand class and to our delight was 7th in his HOYS ridden class! Lampard was 2nd to the eventual champion in a very strong 2/3 year old Cob class, Harry was 2nd in the Cob stallion class and Vanilla was 3rd in a massive senior Fell class.

In the 2/3 year old Welsh C class Glynwyn Tirion (owned by Mrs C Green) was 1st, Debra Murch's Renvarg Bliss was 2nd in the senior Section C class and Jon also showed Hardy's Valentine (owned by Mr P Jones) to take 1st place - she also went on to stand reserve champion.

31st May

NPS Area 26 Summer Show

Today was also my birthday and we were lucky because the sunshine was out and we were home in plenty of time for a lovely barbeque! Hedd was 2nd in both his novice and intermediate classes (kindly ridden by Debra Murch) and Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was also 2nd in her novice class. But the best birthday present was that Tawny Owl picked up his Picton ticket with a 1st place in his novice ridden class and went on to stand reserve champion!

Bath and West Show

We had a really super outing today with quite a pleasant surprise to round off the day. Lampard was 1st in the 2&3 year old Welsh Cob class and Dunkery Shrike was also 1st in the senior Exmoor gelding class! The Exmoor pony prize winners were asked to return to the ring later in the day to meet Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall - and Jonathan had a chat with her and Shrike got a pat too!

A special new arrival!

We were delighted to have a phone call today from Doug & Barbara Hall of the Tredellans Stud to say that our leased mare, Rebeca Eithrin, has given birth to a beautiful colt foal!! He is by our stallion, Haighmoor Harry, and we hope to name him soon. Thank you Doug & Barbara!

22nd May

Devon County Show

This is the first year I can remember the sun has graced us at Westpoint. It was a lovely day, perfect for showing. Owly was unplaced in-hand and later had a blip in the riddens resulting in my landing on the floor! Credit Crunch was also unplaced but Lampard was 3rd in a very strong 3 year old Welsh Cob class. We also showed Renvarg Bliss (owned by Miss D Murch) to take 2nd place in a massive senior Welsh C mare class, Trevarth Jack Daniels (owned by Mr P Jones) was 1st in the 2 year old Cob class and Hardy's Valentine (also owned by Mr P Jones) took 3rd in the senior Cob mare class.

17th May

NPA Cornwall Spring Show

The weather was hellish but the show still went ahead - and in a moment of madness we took the rain in our stride and turned up. It wasn't a very good day results wise for us, Credit Crunch was 2nd in the youngstock class, Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was 5th in the Fell/Dales/Highland class and Owly was 3rd in the Shetland/Dartmoor/Exmoor class. After Owly's in-hand result we decided it best to withdraw him from the ridden class but we kept Vanilla in for experience and she was 3rd in the novice ridden.

16th May

Troon Show

Unfortunately due circumstances beyond our control, the lorry arrived at the showground too late for my ridden M&M class with Hedd - the first class of the day. However, we were lucky in that the show also had some unaffiliated classes running so I was able to enter him in the Open Combination class which, to our delight, Hedd took 1st place and later in the day our judge, Tulie Richardson, gave the reserve championship to! We also took Trevarth Jack Daniels (owned by Mr P Jones) and he stood 1st in the M&M youngstock class.

Arthen Hedd

4th May

Helston Flora Show

It was an early start for us - but well worth it. We took our two cob boys out - the first time Harry has been out in over 2 years. Both Lampard and Harry were 1st their classes, Lampard went on to stand in-hand champion and then take the overall M&M championship!

2nd May

Gwinear Agricultural Show

Shrike went for his first ever outing to a show and to the team's delight he was 1st in a very strong small breeds class. Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) was 3rd in both her in-hand and ridden classes and Tawny Owl was 2nd in his ridden class. We didn't take Tawny Owl back in for the championship as I wasn't convinced he was totally happy in canter, however, this didn't matter because we took Shrike in and stood overall M&M champion!

A Wedding for Trekerwys!

A very special day for us; Jonathan and I are now married! We had a lovely ceremony at Crofthandy Methodist Chapel taken by Rev. Danny Reed and celebrated with all our friends and family afterwards.

14th March

NPA Spring Ridden Show

We had a truly super day; the atmoshpere was lovely - ideal for novice ponies. Vanilla (owned by Mrs B Hall) started the day off well by taking 1st prize in the novice large breeds class, followed by Tawny Owl who was 1st in the open small breeds class. In the championship, Owly was pulled forward with three other ponies for final judging - a real honour as he was the only native to be in that final four. Later in the day Vanilla was 4th in the starter working hunter pony class and Tawny Owl stood 1st in the novice class and finished the day in style by going working hunter pony champion!
